What are the topics this year?
In recent years people have become more and more aware that our world is constantly changing. Therefore companies are actively looking for new ways to react to these changes. There is a visible trend in organizations to focus on agility and adaptability, which brings with it a change in the way of working. A central theme is the desire to use a transparent and short- cyclic approach to act, test results and devise or update next steps. The traditional concept of top management taking a few months devising a strategic direction plan to be implemented in the next five or so years does not fit this image of an agile organization. Because an organization’s strategy can’t be left behind when current trends speed up and heighten the organization’s learning ability, new ideas are being raised in favor of using the short-cyclic approach on a strategic level as well. As IIBA we are particularly interested in the question “which Business Analysis tasks can support these new ideas for short-cyclic strategy definition, execution and evaluation?” It is our wish that this day will help us find answers to the above and related questions!

Who are the speakers?
The program is still a work in progress, but we already know the main topics of the day.

jpijl.png    We’re proud to announce Jacques Pijl, Director of Turner Management Consulting as our first keynote speaker. He is the author of the bestsellers “Het nieuwe normaal” and “STRATEGY = EXECUTION”. Jacques van den Broek, CEO Randstad, says: "The concept of innovation and how you organize innovation is thoroughly demystified and made very practical".
Jacques Pijl will make clear to us that strategy must be developed and executed in short cycles. His talk’s central question is: How can organizations improve, innovate and innovate faster? And what about in a new era? Jacques will tell us about 6 success factors, which may remind you of the 7 habits of highly effective people from Covey. And guess what? The 6 success factors are at least as valuable and inspiring as those 7 habits from Covey!

He will speak about how specialized software is reacting to rapid changes in the market, and at the same time how this technology change is a key driver for new ways of working between business and IT stakeholders. The result? The ability to quickly adapt to changing needs by means of low code, visual collaboration. The key takeaway will be how business analysts can use these technology developments to further enhance business IT collaboration.

Jack Esselink, data evangelist and storyteller at IBM, will tell us how to cope with exponential growth of data, sensors and computing power in his talk “Data in Exponential Times”. The possibilities seem endless. However, how do you deal with this as a business analyst and how do you ensure that you remain relevant? Jack Esselink will tell us all about the latest trends of data analytics and will give tips and tricks to deal with these trends.

Crossing the Swords

Like last year, we’ll have a “House of Commons” session (also called “Crossing the Swords). We’re very happy that Frederik Schukken, Transformatie Coach at Rabobank will trigger us again with sharp statements. It’ll make clear that we think differently about business analysis and it’ll help to develop vision to make us more effective and efficient as a business analyst, even in the rapidly changing world!

Win a copy of the book: “Strategie=Executie” by Jacques Pijl!
All participants of the conference have a chance to win a copy of the book “Strategie=Executie” by Jacques Pijl. You just have to be there and help us by answering the following questions:

1. What’s the impact of the rapidly changing world on the organization you work for?
2. How do you cope with this?

Maybe your input can help us phrasing statements for the “House of Commons” session. You can participate as often as you like!
